Cry My monitor wont display when using my video card.

Ok I dunno much about computers so >_< I'll try to be as specific as I can.
I baught an nVidia MX440 64MB and everything was working well with it when I installed it at first. The problem began when my bf came and told me he needed to test my video card on a Server machine motherboard he got.I told him I didn't think it was a good idea but he told me nothing would happen to it.We looked on the BIOS of my pc (it's a Phoenix -awardBIOS v6.00PG) to change the settings from external card to inboard but we never found the option and he took the card out without changing anything and put the monitor back in the inboard video plug.

The pc turned on fine whith the inboard video but when he gave me back the video card we put the monitor back in the nVidia card and nothing was displaying the pc turned on just fine but the monitor stayed black as if it were off and the light that said it was on ( the green light) stayed orange.

Please can someone help me out? if you need to know anything else ask away!

So basically you removed the card, attempted to change the bios settings but didnt and installed it back on....

In this case

First I would uninstall and reinstall the videocard and make sure it sits well in the slot.

Then I would reset the bios ( just in case you have changed some settings in the bios )

and restart.

The problem is the video card is supposed to be in the slot, because it's the only way to install it.But then when the OS starts it's supposed to display something but it doesnt display anything not even the BIOS when the card is in the slot (monitor connected to it).

Hey, kawaii's bf here.

Hi PurpleSky, I will try to explain it as detailed as I possibly can. First of all, my computer knowledge is just intermediate.

I tried that, but to no avail .

Ok, here's what happened:

I installed the video card on her computer for the first time. It was a new video card, straight out of the box. I placed it on the AGP slot and turned on the PC, the video has to come out through the video card, meaning the monitor has to be plugged to it. I succesfully installed the drivers and everything was going fine.

One day I asked her to let me borrow it. I changed BIOS settings on her computer so that I could be able to remove the video card and she could use the computer with it's regular onboard video, and everything was fine without the video card.

I wanted to run something on a server-based motherboard (or so I believe it is), wich has no built-in video processing. I put the video card on my board, but it didn't work. Then I went back to her house and disabled on-board video, then put the card on the AGP slot. I booted the computer, but it didn't display anything, when it was supposed to. So I installed the video card back on her computer, and it didn't display anything through any of the video outputs. I reset the BIOS to let the computer be able to run with onboard video. As of that day, the video card does not work.

And that's the end of the story .

Best thing to do is to find a compatible and working videocard and test it on the board...
