Getting no video

Last night at home I went downstairs to check my email. Turned on the monitor and the windows logo during the screensavers was frozen. Rebooted the computer and now the monitor only displays the Self Test, check video cables or PC message.

I have tried a different working monitor, put a PCI video card in, reseat the CPU, removed each RAM chip, tried different SATA drive.

Is it possible the ATX power supply took a dump? The computer turns on but I never see the BIOS screen. I have not had a problem with this PC for a year and all of sudden this happened. This one is stumping me. Help would be great, thanks.

it could very easily be the PSU. if you can get one to test then try it. make sure you get one with enough power if you are going to buy one. go here to calculate what power you do need, adding 30% to what it totals, because not all PSUs match their max output.

that is a handy page, but it does not work. I build systems all the time and this would be handy.
