VGA (PnP) to DVI problem
Hi,
I have an Leadtek Wiinfast 7900GT, it has two DVI inputs and no VGA (PnP) inputs. I want to be able to use a VGA monitor but am having some trouble. I have tried using an adapter but that doesn't appear to be working. Any ideas? Am I missing something? Thanks in advance. |

The VGA to DVI adapter might be turning it into a DVI-A signal, which the DVI-D input will not recognize. DVI-A is really an analog signal that just uses a DVI connector. If you look around, you might be able to find a device that converts the signal to actual analog. The adapter you have is meant for something outputing DVI-I (both analog and digital).

It's just like Matt said, they may be digital outputs which will only work with a digital display. I don't know if any digital->analog convertors exist that would work that way.

There are three kinds of DVI: DVI-A (analog), DVI-I (analog and digital), and DVI-D (digital). DVI-A can be easily recognized by a cross on the side but no pin holes. DVI-I can be recognized by pin holes and a cross on the side. DVI-D can be recognized by pin holes but only a horizontal line on the side, no vertical line to make a cross. Look on the video card and the adapter. To my knowledge, the adapter, is a DVI-A connector, in which case it will only work with DVI-I or DVI-A. Unfortunatley, most video cards are DVI-D. Remember, you can't change an analog signal to a digital one in just a simple connector.
