My employer sent me a new sound card instructed me how in install and a cd which states Yamaha sound card driver plus media player 9. Replaced worked great. Last yr my kids where downloading music, one day the sound stopped. The color got distored, I assumed a virus??? I put the computer away. I pulled it out last week, previously it has windows me, I installed window xp, color returned works great only thing we do not have any sound still plz help.

Try going to the system control panel. Hardware tab, device manager. Go down to the sound and multimedia. Is your sound card listed? Does it have a yellow ! next to it?
