A soundcard, or onboard sound is what produces your sound to your speakers. Th easiest way to do this would be ro right click on "My Computer", select "Properties" then click on the "Device Manager" tab, then click on the device manager tab within that tab and look down the list to to where it says "Sound And Video Game Controllers". Now unhide the component tree there (click on the + button) and it will expand and you will be able to see what type of soundcard, or onboard sound you have in your motherboard/PC. It should look like this -

Ok, have you made sure your speakers are plugged firly into the correct colored audio out plugs on the back of the soundcard? Your front two speakers should be getting sound from your green line-out jack. Try replugging the line that should go there in again firmy, then with both your soundblaster icon in the lower right corner of your screen and in the windows control panel make sure you are set up for 5.1 sound (speakers) and test speakers again. Also in the SB control pane - make sure line-out and or wave/mp3 and midi (are not checked to mute) and volume sliders are raised up enugh to hear.
