problem with Soundmax digital onboard sound
So my friend just redid a hard drive for a client and installed XP pro fresh, and now it will not find the Soundmax onboard sound driver. It has only a yellow explamation point on that when you go into the device manager. You can uninstall and install and it finds it but says there was a problem during installation. We went the other motherboards site and soundmax and installed every driver imaginable for it and it still says cannot start hardware. We have the original cd for the soundboard with the drivers for everything and it still doesnt want to start. We're assuming the onboard sound has gone bad? We're about ready to go out and get a new sound card for it.....what does anyone think??
P.S - oh yeah i went into the bios as well and checked the onboard sound on thier to be enabled and it was.....i also disabled and enabled it and still no help. |

Its almost comical what we did now. We took all the un-needed hardware out of the machine, started over.....which means we cleaned off C drive again and reinstalled with a fresh copy of XP.....then installed sound drivers first....and it worked....s****y part is ....we installed everything else.....and then downloaded all the windows updates....prompted for a restart after the updates....and when we restarted it...gave us the blue screen of death. gotta love windows.
