Sigmatel C-Major/ Realtek AC97 issues!
Okay so.......
I'm using my Fujitsu N series Lifebook to produce music using a variety of programs, normally Fruityloops (version 4 and 6.0.8). The problem I have is a crackling sound when playing sound files in this program (no problems with media player for example). I have done lots of reading in various forums about this with advice being related to straining the CPU with effects/vsti plugins etc. However, this crackling is happening when I attempt to play only one sample (e.g. a drum hit) without effects as soon as the software is opened. It doesn't always happen but its very annoying when it does and seems to be happening alot at the moment. My specs are: Pentium 4 2.8Ghz, 512 mb RAM. To my knowledge this should be plenty to play one sample in a sequencer. My sound device is Sigmatel C-Major Audio using Realtek AC97 audio drivers. I have tried updating these drivers in the past but it ends up becoming a nightmare as I always loose the sound completely and have to roll back the drivers. Any help would be AMAZING as I am stumpted. Thanks alot for your time Luke Last edited by lukebattye; 02-21-2006 at 01:44 AM. |

Sigmatel C-Major
I recently did a reformat and re-install of win Xp to speed up my flagging computer. I have a Dell laptop, Inspiron 8500. Everything seemed to reinstall nicely, except for sounds. Now I get a click or crackle everytime a sound is played, even when the volume is turned off. It doesn't continue after the sound starts. For example, if I play a song on iTunes, a have a click at hte beginning, but the rest of the song plays just fine. Or using my Microsoft Help Assistant, the cat, when it makes a noise, there is first hte click, then the sound plays. If I turn down the sound to mute, there is still the click when a sound is to be played. I've reinstalled hte original driver which came with the Dell, which worked fine before, but the click/crackle remains. Help?

I may have goofed. I have just registered with this site and didn't realise the p's and q's. I was trying to add my plea to bolster the original post, but looking through the posts, I may have messed up. I will post my problem separately, and i apologise for any confusion.
