SoundBlaster Advanced MB and DTT2500 speakers
Hi,
I own a fairly old set of Cambridge Soundworks DTT2500 5.1 surround speakers. When I first got them they worked flawlessly on a SB Live! 5.1 sound card with the digital I/O board. Since then the sound card died and I started using the speakers for my DVD player, which again they are marvelous for. In the meantime I did some stupid things. I sold all of my old computer parts including 2 SB cards that may have worked with these speakers. I now have a new system and I bought a MB with onboard sound that is upgraded to the SoundBlaster Advanced MB, and it has an SPFID coax jack on the back. I figured now that I am playing more and more games I would hook my speakers back up to my PC. NO GO. No matter what configuration I try I am only ever able to get FR and FL channels and a little bit of bleed into the center. I even went and bought a connector so I could try the 9 pin DIN cable that came with the speakers. That was a waste of money, although someone said with that new adapter I can get these speaker to work with the Live! 24bit or Audigy cards.... *shrug* There are some settings to turn on either PCM or AC3 encoding and I have tried all combinations. What's weird is I get NO sound if just AC3 is checked and only get sound with PCM. Am I wrong to assume that if my system supports AC3 it should work? I know it could be the sampling rate but there is no way to change it that I could see. Software has been un/re-installed several times in several different manners to ensure a clean reinstall. SO, couple of questions here. Is there a currently available sound card I can get these speakers to work properly with? I know I could always go to eBay and find the same old setup I had but I'd rather not. Would I be better off just getting other speakers to work with my new MB and how will I know if they are compatible? If anyone is familiar with these speakers and can help get them going I would sincerely appreciate it. Here is a bit about the speakers: Satellites 5 Identical Satellites 90mm x 90mm x 90mm 2.5” Full Range Driver Subwoofer 380mm x 200mm x 210mm 5.25” Long Throw Woofer Sound Modes Dolby Digital, Pro-Logic, and AC-3 compatible. Four different sound presets (Music, Movie, Stereo, FourPoint) ~dev |
