No sound after upgrading to Windows XP
Hi!!! I hope someone can help me. I've upgraded from Windows ME to Windows XP and now I have no sound coming from my speakers. I have a Gateway EV700. I checked the control panel and in the sounds and audio devices everyhing says that they are working properly. I've tested the hardware and the hardware wizard says everything is working properly, but I don't hear anything. I've upgraded the hardware drivers from the Windows update & Nothing...I don't know what to do. I've also checked the speakers and everything is installed properly. The type of Sound card I have according to the computer is Creative Audio PCI (ES1371, ES1373) (WDM). Any advise on what to do will be appreciated....I'm at a loss as to what to do.Thank

Thank so very much for the reply. I did do an update to the driver and it was the same result. I also went to the gateway website and after a long day of troubleshooting with a tech in chat mode, found out that after the upgrade my system switched to analog when my speakers are digital. For some reason I'm not able to change the settings in the volume control, I'm going to try to contact the manufacturer and see if they are able to assist or last resort purchase analog speakers. If anyone out there happens to have a gateway system, Gateway offers e-mail support & chat tech support at no charge, a great resource when your warranty is up. I would also like to thank this website for having this forum available for people who don't have another alternative. Thanks!!!! :)
