Normaly it would be listed in the integrated peripherals, Onboard devices or something along that line.

hey, the problem was that the speakers that came with the old computer, which happened to be a "gateway" computer apparently only ran on that computer. I was hoping there could be a winxp driver for gateway products that would enable me to run the speakers on my new computer? What are my chances and can u point me in the right direction of a site that may have this type of driver. thanx

Speakers do not require drivers. If they have the standard mini stereo plug and and are externally powered they should work. The only real difference in computer speakers is quality.

If it is enabled and you have a sound card installed then you will want to disable the onboard sound. or they will conflict.

Nah the need a win xp driver because they are Boston speakers which came as a gateway package a few years back. The speakers need a special winxp driver because those speakers were designed for the gateway computer. Both a computer tech told me that was well as Gateway support when i rang them!

Malice, the others are correct. Speakers do not require drivers. Your sound card requires a driver. And if you have two going at the same time, you very likely have a conflict. Check your onboard sound card as Oldmm advised.
