Sound Works For Everything But Streaming
I really have not done anything new to my computer other than load IE7 and everything was working prior to that install and was working after it, I have a virus program provided by my Internet Provider that I removed because I thought it was the problem. I still cannot hear the streaming audio. I listen to a local radio station www.1021thex.com, but it just sits here "connecting". Anyone with any ideas please let me know. By the way, my virus software said that I have no internet connection and when i tried to play a audio file that was to be played in Media Player, it also said that I was not connected to the internet. I am connected and have no connection issues. Last week I was getting intemittent connection interuptions especially during online Call Of Duty 2 playing, but since, it has been perfect. Please let me know.
Thanks |

It sounds like certain ports or applications are that require the internet connection are being blocked. Probably by window firewall or some other 3rd party firewall app. I have not used IE7 but maybe it even has to be manually enabled here. YOur internet connection is probably fine, and you PC may also be ok, but remember internet access can be blocked in many places.
So, look at your firewall/internet and IE setting first to make sure nothing is being prevented from accessing the net. I would definately re-install your AV program, running without it is never a good idea.

Thanks for your time. You were right for the most part, it was a setting in IE7 called Phishing that was preventing streaming audio. I had turned it on on my side of this computer but had not turned it on on my wife's side. I figured that out after trying to stream on her side and it worked fine. IE7 is pretty cool, with the tabbed browsing and all. Now that i have figured that out I will reinstall that AV program.
Thanks again for you time and help. |
