Sound problem: it's there, but it's messed up! Please help!
Hi. I just joined so that I could get some help from you great people.
I bought an emachines desktop computer less than a month ago. I'm not on it right now (I'm at work). The sound was working fine until last night. I listen to audio/video files with headphones, not the speakers, and the volume is usually only halfway or a little higher up. Anyway, all of a sudden, the sound is now scratchy, crackling, barely audible. It also seems like it's worse on one side (maybe the left). I tried all the troubleshooting tips, switched headphones and speakers, but the problem still remains. When I turned on the computer last night, I did plug my DVD player into the Audio In at the back to make some wav files. I don't know if the sound problem started before or after doing so, though. HOWEVER, I have done this many times since I bought the computer and no problems occurred, so why would this time be any different? Does anyone have some ideas as to what could've happened or how to fix the problem? And--since I really know nothing about the technical aspects of computers--feel free to use layman's terms and talk to me like an idiot. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! |
