Two annoying Live! 5.1 problems!
Hi all.
I have had a Creative Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 for some time now and everything has worked without a hitch... Then I upgraded to Windows XP (from 98) I am a professional musician and kinda need my sound card to work properly. But since upgrading to XP and downloading appropriate drivers and software from the soundblaster.com website, the sound card has developed two intensely annoying problems:- 1. When ever I change speaker modes, use and then un-plug the head-phones and sometimes for no reason at all, the Live Drives "Line In 2/Mic In 2" input mutes and won't unmute. It locks in mute. I have some equiptment plugged into the back (a surround sound TV card amongst other things) and the "Line In 2" on the Live Drive is what I use for my desk through which I connect my various external synths and microphone so I really need it to work reliably. 2. I replace the 2mb soundfont with the 8mb one that came on the original sound card installation disk as well as various other soundfonts. Everything works perfectly but when I shut down my computer and re-boot the next day the 8mb soundfont has reverted back to the 2mb one and all my own soundfonts have disappeared, (unloaded). I need to re-load them all on EVERY re-boot. This never happened before. Can anyone help please? Last edited by wee_gerri; 09-15-2005 at 05:05 PM. |

Most likely the contacts inside the headphone jack are dirty or corroded. When u plug in phones it interrupts the speaker output, when u unplug phones sometimes good contact is not re-established with the speakers.
