Microphone not working
Howdy.
A while ago, I purchased a "Plantronics Audio 90" headset not only for gaming but to also replace an earlier headset that stopped working. It worked great for for a while, delivering great performance on all my games. Recently, I have reformatted my computer and to my surprise, my headphones work but my mic doesn't. I made sure it's not muted and its plugged in correctly. Still no change. I went on the manufacturer's website and tried their solutions, mainly the one where you select "Mircophone" in volume control and set it to max volume. Still doesn't work. I plug in my older mic which is by itself (not connected to a headset) and it worked perfectly. I fiddled around with random settings some more and I ended up making it so that no mics work at all now. Now, I have abolutely no idea what to do to further help the problem. I hope you guys can help. If you felt that I left out something important in this message, just tell me and I'll get right onto it. Thanks! |

OK..I have done some more tweakage and I have found out what's wrong.
So when I was fooling around with the settings, I ended up checking "Center speaker and subwoofer connected to Microphone." That was what made me transmit no sound at all through the mic. So with this new change now in place, I go over to check out my mics. The old one that I have to hold with my hand to speak in works perfectly now. When I plug in the mic jack for my headset however, out comes this horrible screeching sound and it won't even transmit anything when I test it anyway. So my question now is...do you think I should buy a new headset or is there another way to fix this and save my money? |
