Chirping sound - Realtek AC97 Audio

I have the Realtek AC97 Audio card that came with this system.

About every 8 minutes, a horrible sounding chirping sound comes out of the speakers/headphones. I recently formatted and it started doing this. I recall having this same chirping sound on my older system as well. The passed system had a Sound Blaster Live! card.

Attached is an audio clip of the sound that comes out of the speakers.

Anyone know what it is?

My System

That's weird! You say it's every 8 minutes... have you got any programs running that play a preset alarm sound? Such as an email autochecker or an update notifier?

Search your entire hard drive for any wav files. If you find it, open the related program and see if there's an option to disable the sound.

I'm playing it as a loop in Winamp. Sounds like the crickets are having a carnival

No, it's not a sound file. I think it's just POS hardware that's producing the sound.

Bloody hell, it was a warning notification with WeatherBug. It would chirp everytime there was an update with the weather warnings. It being tornado season, the thing would chirp every few minutes. Thanks a ton for making me realize it was an application problem.
