horrible noises
hi. i'm not actually using a soundcard, just on board audiao so not sure if this is the right place. if not then sorry.
i'm using an msi k8t neo2 mobo, and it's plugged into a fairly basic speaker and sub setup (not actually 2.1). the problem is that quite often, but randomly, when i open a window i get hideous screeching noises through the speakers. i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything, and looked at all the audio settings i can think of but it is still happening. all help will be greatly appreciated as i am sick of having no audio. thanks

This is interesting. Post your specs, especially the brand and model of your mobo and what pci cards you're using and which pci slot they occupy. Also the version of your OS (find that under 'Help, About'). The more info you post the more likely one of us will be able to suggest something.

You need to go to PC-rehab
you haven't said what type of speaker system you are using, but it sounds like your getting digital signals in fed to it, which can happen. I take it your just using ordinary speaker system with analog inputs? . if so try disabling the digital output. Also does this MB have a digital input? if so disable this too, that should do it.

try going into the sound panel and mute the cd audio volume.
more times than not i find irritating noises that come out the speakers are really the cd-rom allowing IDE noise back through to the sound card.

me too
hi, I think I got the same problem. It's like I can "hear CPU" trough speakers. I can hear it when volume level is high. But there are more and stronger noises when CPU is busy. I also don't know how to fix it.
I have VIA AC'97 on board soundcard, ECS P4VXASD2+ mainboard, Intel Celeron 1.80GHz CPU. I'm really interested in this problem, because it's bothering me too. Thanks
