Figure this one out

I just got a pentium 4 3.0 with one gig of memory................a dvd burner as well ................I can play videos with sound and everything is on............sound is fine.............when i put a movie in.............the movie playes fine.............just doesn't have any sound. I have updated my drivers..........what now................buy a sound card ?

I think it's because you don't have the proper codec to play the audio.

I agree, the DVD is encoded with digital signals for the reproduction of sound and a codec is a software (encoder/decoder) that correctly decodes this information so you can hear it.
Iif the correct files/software is not there to decode the signals from the DVD then BAM!!! no sound...

had a few beer this afternoon. Can you tell?

You can get a full codec pack here http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...Codec_Pack.htm

It's the latest version and contains all the audio/video/dvd codecs you need. Just run the program, reboot and your DVDs should play properly.
