Audigy 4 Pro and optical output to reciever issues

Ok so I bought the sb audigy 4 pro....installed everything as instructed....hooked up my fiber optic cable to the fiber optic output on the front of the external box that comes with it....and I get stereo? no other channels...yes i have enabled the bypass blah blah thing and that did not help...yes I tried runnin a dvd to see if that was the problem and no, stereo on 5.1 dvd as well....I have the optical cable hooked into my onkyo reciever that supports up to 6.1 in both dolby and dts, can someone pls help me out....I just want to play my games in digital 5.1 or 6.1 if supported and watch dvds on my nice home theatre system, not some set of pc speakers, at pc levels of audio clarity. I do have a yellow digital spdif connector in the back of the reciever but would really prefer to use the fiber optic if that is possible. If fiber optic is not possible then perhaps you could redirect me to a proper cable set up that will work

ok slight update...after reading much on the optical output I have realised that its absolute garbage to a av reciever..only front left and right sound no other speakers even with the bypass stuff turned on. I am currently trying to use y splitters directly off of the pci card that convert to rca individual 5.1 channel splitting..ie the 6 rca jacks one for each channel...does anyone know if this will infact work if I plug it into my reciever this way...or any other suggestions on how to get it to work with output 5, 6, or 7.1 like the card boasts...I have a fairly nice home system runnin off of my onkyo reciever and I really dont want to downgrade to pc speakers when I shouldnt have to. PPPPPLllllllllleaaaaase help
