Soundblaster Live problem

After I have installed my sound card, Windows XP automatically install the driver(in fact , I did not provide any driver for Sound blaster Live for XP).
It then prompt for reboot, ok....I reboot it.
After entering windows, the speaker icon on the task bar appear as mute and then not mute and then mute again. It continue to flicker as mute and not mute whenever I move my mouse. Also there is no sound at all.
Do anyone know what is happening ?

P.S.
OS: Windows XP SP1a
and AC97 has been disabled in BIOS

Thanks very much for any help.

Thank you for your reply.
I have not installed the setup disk "SoundBlaster LiveWare" because after I inserted the disc, it prompts that the disc is not for my current OS. In fact, the CD cover of the disc has "Windows 2000" label.
So if I insist to install the setup file, will there any side-effect on the OS ?

Thanks again.

when I try to install the driver, it prompts that it cannot detect any sound blaster sound card.

But windows xp can detect it and install driver automatically(also not work).

Do you think it is the problem on the sound card ?

Thanks
