General Sound Card Installation Question (Also problems with static in sound)
Hi I have a Soundblaster Live Audigy and it always worked fine on my old 98SE computer, but I recently upgraded my computer to XP and at first (through plug and play, the sound was mostly fine, then after installing the official drivers and update. I now get a weird static sound for only a few sounds (Occaisionally when the computer goes to the Logon Screen, Trillian Startup, and Minimizing or Maximizing a window (even when there's no sound set to it).
What I'm asking is, the Creative tech support said one of the solutions is to move the sound card AWAY from the processor/memory etc) and put it in a different slot. My question is will this mean I have to reinstall everything (which was a hassle for XP), and if there's any other solution I can try to get rid of this static problem. Thanks |

Thanks I've seen you post that link in the other topics, and I'm just curious about one thing. I like to use the Environmental Audio software that comes with (and yes I've tried disabling the EAX and it does NOT remove the static), would these drivers remove this capability (and some of the other Creative software or are they just simply drivers affecting Windows recognition and performance?
