Mic feedback problem

Alright. So first of all, this problem started when I reformatted my computer, so I highly doubt that my sound card or headset broke.
Alrighty, the problem that i'm having is with my headset, which has a microphone attachment. What is happening is my mic is picking up the sounds in my earphones at a very high volume. For instance, when I'm talking in Ventrilo, and someone hits their mic key while I'm talking they will hear themselves through my mic and it's extremely, extremely loud.
Weird thing is, when this happens in vent (voice feedback when my mic is down while someone else is talking) their voice is actually louder than my voice.

This also happens when I'm listening to music, if I'm in vent talking to friends listening to music and I talk, they hear the music very loud while my actual voice is quite lower.

Re: Mic feedback problem

You didn't list any of your hardware specs. But your problem sounds similar to this one: Weird Feedback Problem
