ASIO Direct Sound???
Okay so I am totally lost, I've been through two different help departments and none of them have helped me.
I bought a Yamaha S90 ES Piano keyboard to plug into my computer to work with a program called Finale to write music. Using MIDI it connects directly into the USB. The problem is, ever sense I installed the darn drivers I've been getting this error message ![]() everytime I try and open both Finale 2009 and Cubase AI4 which is the program that came with the keyboard. When I contacted Yamaha they had me install a driver listed in the manual and on their website. After that they said it's a Finale problem go talk to them. When I contacted Finale they said I need to upgrade to Finale 2010 (and pay another $100) because Finale 2009 is not completely compatible with Finale 2009. I believed what they were saying at first, but then I realized that is bull because before I plugged in this keyboard, Finale 2009 ran perfectly. Ever sense I get the error message listed above, and it shows itself three times every time I open Finale. Please help. I am so lost and confused! Musically yours Martin

Re: ASIO Direct Sound???
"because Finale 2009 is not completely compatible with Finale 2009." That doesn't make any sense to me. It's possible the keyboard drivers are not compatible with Finale 2009. But I'd have to believe what the vendor was telling me, as it's their software.
From assisting a coworker from time to time, I know that many of these software applications and hardware conflict with each other. It's often a matter or trial and error to find the correct order in which to install things and get them to work together. With that said, uninstall the keyboard and Finale 2009 (and any other references to them listed under Add and Remove programs). Then reboot, install the keyboard, reboot and ensure the keyboard is working. If it is, then reinstall Finale 2009.
