Windows 7 sound card problem[MOVED]
Hello all,
I found this site by searching on google for a solution to my problem which I am about to post here. I would like to thank you for your effort to try to help me! So my problem is as following: I just started running Windows 7 Ultimate, and everything works perfectly, except for my soundcard. I have the following soundcard: Creative EMU10K1 SB Live! Audio Processor Since I lost my CD's, I tried to download the drivers for this soundcard, but I keep getting the following errors: Required hardware cannot be found, please check if you installed the hardware correctly (it is a translation from dutch to english, so might not be the exact translation). And then the setup just stops and kicks me back to my desktop. Anyone knows how to manually install it? I tried to go to Configuratio screen => Hardware and check what the status is on the hardware, but it doesn't even show. Looking forward to your reply! And thank you for your help. Kind regards, Alvin/ACtje |

This is indeed a desktop PC, with a sound card I manually added a few years ago. |

Re: Windows 7 sound card problem
ok i can not find what sound card yours is so look at your sound card and go to here http://support.creative.com/Products...s.aspx?catid=1 pick the one you have and download latest drivers you will need to 100% that you have got the right drivers for your sound card
then what you will need to try if you cannot see your sound card in your device manager then turn off your computer open the side take the sound card out turn computer on then turn it back off after it has loaded then put the sound card back into your computer and then start it up again then you should be able to see the sound card on your device manager if you can then just install the drivers for uyour sound card and you should then have no problems or errors try this and let me no how it comes along Taz |

Re: Windows 7 sound card problem
Hello all,
Thank you all for your help, unfortunately all of the above did not work. But then I thought of something else. I was looking at the Hardware screen (Configuration => Devices (or Hardware)) and there I found a troubled deviced under the Multimedia tab. After finding the disc, it still wouldn't install, and the auto fix in the previous mentioned screen didn't work either... So.. I did the following: Manually override the installation for the sound card. I downloaded the file for my Sound Blaster Live! 5.1, but since the installations won't start because it cannot find the sound card, I used WinRAR to extract the .exe file into another map. Then I went back to the configuration screen, went to the multimedia tab, clicked the device and did a manual install (pick the files you want to install) and selected the map where the .exe was extracted to. Windows 7 installed it right away, and I had sound ! Thanks for all your support though, and I hope others could use this to their advantage as well. Thanks again, Kind regards, Alvin/ACtje |
