Compaq Presario CQ60218EM sound issues
Hello, got this issue with my laptop which I need help fixing. When I play certain songs which are quite bassy or low, the sound goes all warbly and the volume dims, and it does this intermittently. I play EVE Online and the majority of the soundtrack for that is quite bassy and low, but it does this with other music as well. It has this problem with the laptop speakers, if I plug headphones in, and these crappy PCline speakers I got too
I went onto the HP site to download the drivers for my laptop, but this changed my audio devices. Whereas before the speakers were listed as Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221, after the driver they were listed as "High Definition Audio Device", and underneath there was "headphones" which had the same description. I am quite a imbecile when it comes to matters like this, so if I need to post more info please say |

Re: Compaq Presario CQ60218EM sound issues
The name of the device shouldn't matter...it's just a difference in the driver. If the problem still exists with the new drivers and because it's obviously not a speaker or headphone issue, I'd suspect an actual audio chipset issue. Not much you can do to fix it yourself.
