No audio Device?
A friend of mine dropped off his computer today asking me to see if I could fix the sound problem he has, I can't seem to get anything to work so I'm hoping I might be able to get some advice from you guys.
He's got Windows XP sp 3 Bios Info: ASUSTEK Computer INC A7V333 Version ASUS - 42302e31 (I can't find any option even with the word Audio throughout the bios menu) Sound has never worked on his computer. We formated and reinstalled windows but no luck. I tried following the work around involving regedit didn't get anywhere with that either. When in Sound and Audio Devices Properities it states No audio Device. Can't get it to play any sounds under Sounds, and everything under Audio is greyed out. There is no realtek driver in device manager nor can I seem to get one to show up even after installing it. All I have is "Audio Codecs" and "Legacy Audio Codecs" Everything sound related is on Automatic in Admin Tools. The only sound I can get through the speakers is when the computer is booting up I hear a lady saying "System Completed power on self test" then a few moments later I hear "Computer now booting from OS" and this sound is coming through the speakers. So... Suggestions? |

Re: No audio Device?
Some new information... I did a system restore back to yesterday and now in Device manager I have an error "Realtek High Defination Audio" as well as Unknown device below it. I tried to follow the kb111888sp2.exe work around but while trying to install the driver I got the error message "This Device cannot start. [code 10].
