Music crackles during play of Retro game?
Hi,
I try to play mp3s in iTunes while playing Starcraft (using Daemon tools), and my music skips and crackles. It's STARCRAFT for God's sake-how old is this game and it's causing an issue on my system? My setup isn't all that powerful by any means, but the spec requirements for this game should more than allow me to listen to music in the background. Any suggestions? Thx. Sound is onboard Realtek AC97 Audio. Asus K8S-LA, AMD Athlon 3300+, 2 GB GSkill DDR400, HIS Radeon X1650 512MB. Last edited by n00ch; 10-18-2009 at 09:14 PM. Reason: list system specs |

Re: Music crackles during play of Retro game?
I've noticed it doesn't do this when I use WMP Classic, just with iTunes. But the demand of such an old game shouldn't choke the system like it does. My comp is an HP, and they don't list any new sound driver updates or anything.
Any ideas besides just reformatting this thing and starting over? It's been awhile since I've done that, but it's not cluttered with spyware or any junk like that, whatsoever. Last edited by n00ch; 10-22-2009 at 08:48 AM. |

Re: Music crackles during play of Retro game?
I wouldn't expect a fresh install to function any differently, especially when it works fine with a different audio player. I'd suspect it's a player issue...likely with how iTunes is accessing/using the audio drivers. I'd guess it is causing a conflict with the game. You could check for an iTunes update maybe.
