I have no sound AT ALL
Well, just the other day I started my computer up and there was no sound, the little volume icon in the tray was gone also. My computer doesn't even seem to be able to open sound files since when you try to play them the timer bar wont advance at all.
I've since reinstalled realtek AC-97 twice (im running onboard sound on a A8n32sli btw) and restarted numerous times. I've reinstalled the audio codecs and windows seems to think everything is running normally according to the device manager, even though all the options when I go to adjust sound settings through windows are grayed out. Also when I open the sounds menu it says "No audio devices" at the top. I have absolutely no idea what to do, im not horrible with computers but Im completely out of ideas here besides perhaps my onboard sound card is burnt out or something (wouldnt be the first time the mobo has broken something on me). Anyone have any ideas? Last edited by iant333; 10-18-2009 at 01:45 PM. |

Re: I have no sound AT ALL
Disconnect the speakers. Then bootup, enter the BIOS and ensure the audio is still enabled. Boot into Windows, enter Add and Remove Programs, and uninstall any sound drivers or audio chipset software that is listed. Next, Device Manager and remove/delete the listing for your audio chipset. Reboot and reinstall the audio drivers from the motherboard CD.
