No audio device?
Okay so I recently had a bad case of the blue screens, but luckily I found my windows XP disc and was able to reboot everything. It looked like things were going great until I found out I the audio wasn't working. I want to the dell website and reinstalled some drivers but I don't think that was the problem, since it's still persisting.
In 'Sounds and Audio devices' it says I have no audio device, and device manager says there's a problem with my multimedia sound controller. I think the problem has something to do with rebooting but I'm not sure. I'm using a Dell 2300 if that helps. Thanks! |

Re: No audio device?
Hi faceonfire
![]() It seems that this could be the main cause of the problem Blue screen lament The repair has uninstalled the driver, so the problem device is no longer stopping the system. What exactly does device manager say? |

Re: No audio device?
It's telling me the drivers are uninstalled.
Also: I think the soundcard might not actually be dell dimension since this was made by my brother's friend. I may have been downloading the wrong drivers. Is there any easy way to find out what type of soundcard I have? |

Re: No audio device?
I've followed all those steps and apparently I need to download Soundmax. Everytime I try to install it I just get a message that says "Driver not found, reboot your system and try again". I've tried this and it still won't work.

Re: No audio device?
I just noticed that you have a Dell. Goto the Dell website, enter your model information, and download the audio drivers from there.
