Static Using Creative Audigy 2 ZS
I dropped my laptop Create Audigy 2 ZS sound card on the floor a few months ago. The device plugs into a PC Type II slot. I’m using the sound card more now and notice that it is producing a lot of static/noise in the output circuit. On the other hand, recordings made with the sound card sound fine if played through another device. My problem: I don’t know if the sound card was always like this or whether I should replace it. I think I probably would have noticed the static if it was this bad before dropping the device, but I’m not sure. The Audigy sound card starts to produce static at about –13db. By way of contrast, my desktop sound card, an old Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, does not produce static until about +4db. Apparently, laptop sound cards tend to be noisier than others.
Thanks, in advance. I am not very sophisticated in these matters. |
