5.1 channel Surround sound input using 3x 3.5mm coaxial inputs
Having a few problems here setting up what i want.
Ok so what i have is a ASUS P5Q SE/R Motherboard in my windows Vista computer. What i need to do is configure my input playback to play through my computers 5.1 surrond sound speakers. Basically i need to turn "THIS INTO THIS" Im trying to input 5.1 surround sound using 3x coaxial 3.5mm inputs (it should be possible) in much the same way as they are being outputed. what i need to do is seperate the input channels from the 3x coaxial 3.5mm and send them to the appropriate 5.1 surround sound channels. xbox is working all 5.1 channels are going to the computer and are playing back but not on the correct channel. the link on the first post gives a pretty good idea of i what i mean, it is very hard to explain, ill draw another picture if this still doesnt make any sense I shouldn't need any additional hardware, just a bit of software to redirect those audio channels is all i need Here is the setup so you get a better idea of what im after PHYSICAL SETUP SOFTWARE SETUP Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: 5.1 channel Surround sound input using 3x 3.5mm coaxial inputs
I can't see those images, but if I had to guess, I'd say the Xbox doesn't follow the typical PC setup. PC sound cards typically have the inputs divided into (green) front L/R, (black) surround/rear L/R, and (orange) center and sub. If the inputs are playing on the wrong speakers, you will likely have to do some custom wiring. As for as I know, you can't "move" channels via software.
