So here goes..i recently found a set of harman/kardon speakers and sub-woofer under my bed, thought id try them out since i have never used them. Seems the speakers worked fine, but sub-woofer wasnt having any of it. So i try plugging the sub-woofer into the blue socket next to the sound/microphone port. This clearly was a big mistake because now its caused issues with my sound (like a fuzzy/echoey kind of sound) and i dont know what to do! Computer Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition OS Service Pack Service Pack 3 DirectX 4.09.00.0904 (DirectX 9.0c) Motherboard CPU Type Unknown, 2200 MHz Motherboard Name Unknown Motherboard Chipset ATI Radeon Xpress 200, AMD Hammer System Memory 2048 MB (Registered DDR SDRAM) BIOS Type Award (09/22/06) Communication Port Communications Port (COM1) Communication Port ECP Printer Port (LPT1) Multimedia Audio Adapter ATI SB450 - AC'97 Audio Controller Thanks in advance... This is really unusual and fairly unlikely. I would uninstall and reinstall your motherboard sound driver. Where did you get the SYSTEM INFO? Try: http://www.gtopala.com/ to get the exact board model #. Google it and see if the manufacturer is still offering drivers. If you have a driver cd use that. If this changes nothing, report back. Is this a prebuilt system? HP? COMPAQ? DELL? IBM?

Re: Sigh..
uninstalling the Realtek driver and reinstalling didn't to a great deal but..
I tried disabling it in BIOS then rebooting and enabling it again, didn't do much until i went into the Realtek AC97 Audio Configuration thingy, went to speaker configuration then Phonejack Switch changed the blue speaker to Rear Speaker Out rather than Line in seems to be working a little better. RESET THAT TO DEFAULTS. Does sound work? If so: Reconfigure everything again. For the motherboard model: 1. OPEN THE CASE. 2. FIND THE PHYSICALLY STAMPED MODEL NUMBER EXAMPLE: >> http://www.ultrabios.com/graphics/motherboard.jpg

Re: Sigh..
Good heavens. Ecs. Lawl.
They have a negative stigma. But its ok: They do work, just relatively worse then other MB manufacturer's boards. ON TO THE MATTER: 1. Go here: http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Pro...uID=46&LanID=9 2. DOWNLOAD THIS: "RealTek Codec Sound on board driver" 3. Install driver. 4. Post results.
