No Sound/Clipping Sound on Dell Inspiron 1525
Hello, a few days ago I was on my Dell Inspiron 1525 Windows Vista SP 1 laptop and noticed my speakers weren't working. The thing is I've been using my headphones a lot, so I don't know when this definitely started. I thought I was getting absolutely no sound out of my speakers, but yesterday I had a video open on You Tube and every once in a while sound would come through.
I think my problem could possibly be a result of that the headphones I was using for a while were starting to crap out(I have to reposition the wire so all of the sound comes through) also I have 2 headphone jacks on this laptop and I one of them stopped working yesterday after all of this happened and that's why I think the bad headphones might have short circuited something, or about a week ago windows was updating and I was in a rush and didn't have time to let the computer update so I shut it down while it was updating and said not to. I have done a system restore to before that update, and that didn't seem to help. I have checked my playback devices, which are Sigma Tel Hi-Def Audio Codecs and it says that they're working. I tried to DL an audio driver from the Dell website through their Dell Driver Download Manager the other day, but when ever I would it said there is nothing to DL. I'm thinking of trying to DL it using my browser instead, but realized I need to uninstall the driver I already have 1st, and I'm not sure that the driver is even the problem. If anyone could give me some advice as to whether the driver could be the problem or my bad headphones/turn off during the windows update it would be greatly appreciated, or anything else. Sorry for the long post. |
