Re: Sound not working after i reformatted.
Hello and welcome to the forum.
Click start/right click on my computer and choose properties/hardware tab/device manager and look for any yellow symbols. Use this it is a lot more detailed than Belarc: http://www.astra32.com/download.htm JB. |

Re: Sound not working after i reformatted.
Sorry for the delay I had to get dressed for the day I work from home and have a laptop due in for reinstall.
The Gigabyte website is not opening as it should for me at the moment give me a few minutes to see what the issue is. Sorry I do not add members to MSN it is for private usage only as in family and friends and for my work collegues. JB. |

Re: Sound not working after i reformatted.
I may have the solution for you. I did the exact same thing upgrading my HP Pavilion dv5224nr to Windows Vista Ultimate x64. The sound worked fine with 32bit Vista but I couldn't get any sound for 64.
After 4 days of searching and NUMEROUS trial and error with various downloads, I found that you not only have to download the driver (the one that worked for me was located at http://64bitdrivers.com/driver.php?id=1375) but the you have to open control panel, device manager and manually walk it to the file location yourself using the "have disk" button. Nothing else worked. A big clue is if you go to "Other Devices" and "Media Audio Controller" had that yellow exclamation mark on it, right click it and locate the driver you downloaded from there. Seriously I tried a few variations and the only thing that worked was pointing the computer to exactly where the file was (a.k.a. using the HAVE DISK button) I literally just got it working 5 mins ago and I really hope this works for you...Keep me posted |
