How can I replace my Sound Card

My computer doesn't have a sound. How can I replace it? What is the specification I need to know to get back the sound?

When I tried to check the sound it says , it's functioning properly. My PCs specifications : 20 G, Pentium III, 448MH, 256MB, 32 Bits, Compaq Model 1999.

Thank you for your assistance.

Re: How can I replace my Sound Card

Hello,

Open Device Manager and make sure all Drivers installed properly (without ? or ! )

What is the model number of the Compaq? (ex. Presario 5000 )

Make sure speakers plugged in plugged in properly.

Uninstall sound device from within Device Manager and restart Windows.

Re: How can I replace my Sound Card

If it is listed in Device Manager once you uninstall it and restart Windows will reinstall the

device. Really need the correct model number for the PC to find Driver if needed.

Can you give me the model number for the Compaq (ex. Presario 5000)

It will usually be on the front of the case.

Re: How can I replace my Sound Card

Hi,

My internet was not working again for 4 days. I have to replaced my Lancard. How can I reinstall if I will uninstall the sound. I already found the uninstall in the codec sound. I remember that the model of my on board sound is 2300 presario-is that what you're asking?

Thank you for reply . I will wait for it and I hope my computer would not have some problem.

Re: How can I replace my Sound Card

If you just remove from Device Manager and restart the Driver will be reloaded.

Run Everest and post the log file.

Re: How can I replace my Sound Card

I had already uninstall and reinstall, but still I have no sound. If you will open the Volume control the PC speaker is grayed out. I think that's the reason why my PC has no sound. Do I have to replace it. What model should I buy to replace it?

Thank you again.
