Computer Mic Weird Problem
I am getting the exact same problem. I unmuted my mic line to hear myself and I get a quiet static along with my voice. Even when the mic is unplugged, the low static persists.
Is there an onboard mic that might be switched on along with my external mic? |

Re: Computer Mic Weird Problem
dell xps xps710
desktop intel core 2 cpu 6700 @ 2.66 GHz I have a SB-Xfi audio. There is a constant static but it gets extra loud when I run a gaming program. Also I could faintly hear new static or crackling noises when my mouse goes over icons or the menus in the start menu. There is a weird sound that also plays when I minimize windows or programs. |

Do you also have the infamous screech?
If memory serves you also have integrated audio you may want to remove the xfi card and use the integrated to see if the static goes away or continues. |

Re: Computer Mic Weird Problem
Problem solved, in a way. All the static disappeared once I disconnected a wire that was connected from my onboard sound device to my sound board. It looks like the static might have been caused from conflict between the two boards.
I thank you so much for your time and advice. It would have never lead to me disconnecting it. |
