RealTek audio problem

Greetings,

I apologise if this is the wrong section. I am having trouble with a game, "Clutch" but posting this as a soundcard issue because the game runs fine. When I quit the game, however, my onboard RealTek audio gets disabled.

The tray icon says "there is no device attached to the system" (?) But when I go to My Computer\Properties\ Hardware, it says the device is working properly. I need to reboot the system and everything works again.

System:

Windows XP SP2
Pentium dual core E5200@ 2.50GHz
Gigabyte G31M-ES2C
1GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4650

The game does require NVidia "PhysX" to be installed, which I thought might be the problem since I have an ATI card. People at the NVidia forum assured me that PhysX only aids the game engine and provides extra features if I had an NVidia card, so I don't know.

RealTek has no support forum or even a tech support email I can find. Steam will not help since the game is working properly.

Re: RealTek audio problem

Hey, ive had this problem before but not onyl with a game it was my whoel system. For me this was a driver issue. i could NOT find the driver for the life of me so i "acquired" Driver Genius and had it find it for me in a flash. I reinstalled the driver and everything has been working good since. I would try doing that. You can buy Driver genius for like 30 or 50 dollars

Re: RealTek audio problem

Thank you, Kirkace2003,

Hey, I live in Brasil, not Oregon, so I know where to find anything I want.

I am sure this is some sort of driver problem, and only related to this particular game for some reason, so that is what I am trying to figure out.

I know what you are talking about, but I don't think I need a program to recover or reinstall my drivers after every application. I am just trying to figure out how this program can use and then disable my installed drivers when I leave the program.

Edit: And I lived in Oregon, for most of my life, until 2004, so please don't think I am making fun of you, or Michigan, or Oregon!

Edit#2: What is the world coming to if we have to reinstall drivers for every Gaddonged application! Microslop will love it. I'd be using Ubuntu if I could get my progs to run, but I am stupid.

Re: RealTek audio problem

What brand and model pc or motherboard if custom built?
Reinstalling the sound drivers may work.
