Question [SOLVED] Connect Harmon/kardon to Sound Blaster Live?

Hi all,
I have a Creative Sound Blaster Live 24-bit sound card installed on my Dell Dimension 3000, and a Dell monitor with built in speakers. On my "not-in-use" Windows 98 computer, I had a a harmon/kardon speaker set. It provided a type of multimedia sound system that I don't get with the Dell monitor speakers on this XP computer, so I tried hooking it up to this computer, as an "add-on" to the other speakers. My SB card has blue, black, yellow, and blue ports. A microphone is using the blue port, and the monitor speakers are in the green port. I tried hooking the speaker to the other ports (yellow and black), but I couldn't get sound out of the speakers (I played music from WMP, and heard it out of the normal (built in) speakers, but not in the harmon/kardon. The harmon/kardon speakers are a green connector, so it may work in the green port, but I was hoping it could also work in one of the other ports. Does anyone know if it's something I'm doing wrong or if it's not possible to really do this?
Thanks, Jason

Re: Connect Harmon/kardon to Sound Blaster Live?

Hello and Welcome to TSF,

Blue - Line in/mic/digital out
Green - Line out
Yellow - Line out
Black - Line out

Note: All those line outs are configured differently depending on how many speakers you're hooking up
Did you configure it properly in the configuration setup?

Re: Connect Harmon/kardon to Sound Blaster Live?

I plugged the speakers back in the yellow port, opened the Creative software, but didn't really do anything there, and still no sound came out of the speakers when I played WMP. Then I plugged it out, then put the speakers in the black port, and tested all 4 speakers in the software, and I was surprised to hear static out of the harmon/kardon speakers! I opened WMP, and sure enough, sound works now out of all 4!
Thanks for the help.
