##Issues with X-FI Xtreme Gamer and ATIKMDAG ##
So i buy myself a new sound card from creative and install it onto my pc. Everything is great until i try to play games. First it was BSOD but thats stopped happening after many updates etc. now it seems that ATIKMDAG (ATi Driver) stops responding and recovers in my games. Anyone else had this problem before? and how can i fix it :)
Removing the soundcard resolves the problem btw :S # X-FI Xtreme Gamer # ATi HD4850 # AMD Phenom X4 9850 (BE) # 2x1GB OCZ 800MHz ram # GA-MA790X-DS4 # |

I told you, I'm 90% sure it's your PSU. Driver conflicts just don't cause those types of problem, and you have a crap PSU.

Re: ##Issues with X-FI Xtreme Gamer and ATIKMDAG ##
My power supply is a "trust 520W", i have found that swapping the 6pin pci-Express connector from the power supply with a converter from a 4pin peripheral to 6pin pci-e and removing a hdd resolves this problem (slightly) still GRID doesnt work on windows 7 (RC, x64) though, maybe because it needs more power?

Re: ##Issues with X-FI Xtreme Gamer and ATIKMDAG ##
I would have to agree with Phædrus2401. Your power supply is a problem. Trust is not considered a quality power supply manufacturer. The power supply is probably most similar to a 280w quality unit. Also the ATi Radeon HD series has a dedicated driver for the HDMI audio so that is most likely conflicting with the sound card. You should set the Creative X-Fi card as the active card and leave the HDMI driver deactivated.

I happen to agree with "phaedrus2401" on the PSU.
You need to be here 600 watts: Corsair 650 watt: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139005 OCZ 600 watt: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341017 Here are 2 suggestions I found for a decent price for what you get. These are 2 good quality PSU`s here, corsairs are known to run quiet.
