Hooking up computer to surround sound system?
I'm not sure if i can or what i need to make this possible and was hoping I could get some help. My computer only has 6 holes on the back that involve audio and they are gray, black, orange, pink, green, and blue. They are all the same kind of holes. My surround sound has two digital outputs, optical and coaxial. I'm hoping all i need to buy is adapters and cables but I am currently clueless as to where to start. My graphics card also has an hdmi slot if that means anything, but I would prefer to stay away from it.
Any help is appreciated. Im not sure what model numbers I should put for my surround sound so Ill put them all... Onkyo 5.1ch Home Theater Speaker Package HTP-8230 Onkyo Av Receiver HT-R8230 Last edited by dstn2524; 08-05-2009 at 07:56 PM. |

Re: Hooking up computer to surround sound system?
Your speaker system is not compatible to your computer. You would require either a new sound card or different speakers.

Hello and Welcome to TSF,
Yes it is possible, you will need a sound card installed though: Creative Labs Audigy Platinum: http://www.americas.creative.com/pro...incategory=461
