My sound is gone but not completely

Hi everyone!!

I have a minor but major issue with my computer. I use linux and I'm quite happy with it except this. One day I went on the computer and there was a X beside the speaker symbol. I didnt pay any attention to it until I realized I couldn't play any music.

I tried right clicking and using volume control but when ever I did a pop up saying "No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found". I have no idea what that means.

See the thing is when I log in the sound works. It plays that welcoming drum tune but when I'm on my account there is no sound at all.

Please help me as soon as possible.

You will have to state the sound card in the computer and what distribution of Linux you are using before assistance can be provided.
