No audio device

Hello spent hours trying to sort this problem so hoping someone can give me some help.

The problem is I have no sound ( Ihave system sounds tho) ....this problem happened when I had to reinstall windows after my laptop wouldnt startup. So I have re installed windows everything is fine accept I have no sound - I have tried all the usual settings and the trouble shooter isnt much help other than sending you round in circles. The hardware is listed under sounds and ausio devices but I cant seem to set them --

this is what is listed
Game port for CH products gamecard 3
Audio codecs
Video codecs
legacy audio drivers
media control devices
legacy video devices

all show under properties that they are working properly but I am wandering whether where it says location - unknown maybe the problem =

any help would be appreciated NOW SORTED I HAVE DOWN LOADED A FREE DRIVER REALTEKAC97

Re: No audio device

give us the motherboard model no. you need to reinstall the device drivers Or better yet if you have the drivers CD that came with the PC or motherboard reload the drivers using the CD otherwise just do a google search for the device drivers, mainly the audio drivers for your motherboard model no.

oh I forgot to ask do all the Audio devices you listed from Device Manager have yellow exclamation or question marks beside them?? if so ,,,this confirms the drivers are not installed
