Help me Identify this Card please~
Hey there,
I've been having a really hard time trying to find out which sound card the Compaq Presario SR5552F has and downloading a driver for it. In other words, I need help finding out the manufacturer of my soundcard. A Realtek High Definition Driver seems to work okay, but the left front speaker doesn't seem to do anything and the centre/bass speakers seem to be flakey (I know it's not the speakers because I've changed them with others and I get the same result). This problem has made me search for 5 days for an answer with no results. My sound system is set up as 7.1 surround sound. Everything seems to be working except for the left front. After I find out what who the manufacturer of my sound card is I also need to find a driver that works properly with Windows XP SP1, so help with that would be appreciated. Thanks~ |

It's integrated sound on the motherboard, XP SP1? you should be running SP3 if it's XP. |

Re: Help me Identify this Card please~
I'm starting to think it's something wrong with the jack itself. I get a very high frequency noise out of the left front channel and nothing else.
This might be a little hard to believe but my house got hit by lightning. Since then I've had to replace my hard drive and ethernet card. It seems a few things, like those, were blown out from the resulting EMP when the lightning struck, because back then I only had 4.1 audio all pluged into one jack, which happens to be the one that doesn't work properly. If thats the case then I'll probably have to get a USB sound card or a new motherboard considering all my PSI slots are being used... |
