Okay so im going nuts here, my mic worked great for 2 weeks, all the sudden it just randomly stops. i plug it into another computer and it works great tho!
I game alot and use vent so this is a big deal to me.

Im running a compaq persario, that used to be a windows vista computer, but the harddrive fried and i replaced it and installed XP professional SP2.

My video card modle is :HDAUDIO\FUNC_01VEN_10ECDEV_0888SUBSYS_1
and i have Realtek HD Audio 5.10 for a sound driver.
I have gone right down the check list, checked to see if mic was muted, wen it was i even checked it to mute (worked on older windows models) and still nothing.
I decided then to move the mic to the rear plug in ports and it now picks up SOME sound but i get a lot of what im goignt o call "feedback". My friends in vent say they can hear an echo of themselves. also i have to yell in the mic and talk really loud.

i went to test hardware. When i had Realtek selected for the input i detected no mic. I switched over to Line in/mic and it detected a mic, but with the same problem. it was like a deft old man. I have to yell at it to get anything to go through. so after the mic test it goes to playback test, when that happen it made alot of like.. reverb type sounds.. idk how to expain it.. kinda like a "burr burr burr burr".

I am at witts end. Ive searched the web for 4 days now trying to figure out the problem and i can figure it out.

i can take screen shots of my audio settings upon request
but as i said, all of my settings are fine and everything should be working.
im at a loss, please help.
