Vista not detecting Auzentech soundcard.
Hi all, new guy here.
Im using Vista Home Premium. To cut a long story short (involving SP2, sound issues, STOP 0x00000124 BSOD's etc) , I have just purchased an Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7.1 However, when I remove my Creative X-Fi & drop the Prelude into my ONE & ONLY PCI slot, Vista just refuses to recognize that theres any card there. Its not appearing in device manager at all. Put the Creative back in, Vista detects it ok. I can see a green LED light up on the Auzentech when its slotted, so its getting power. Anyone have any ideas? How can I get Vista to see the Auzentech? Im presuming this brand new Auzentech isnt faulty. |

Re: Vista not detecting Auzentech soundcard.
It would be nice to know if the Auzentech works in a different computer. Maybe a friend can help you out with that?
I would recommend trying a LiveCD of linux to test the card but I don't think that there are any drivers for the prelude (although I hear that Creative's linux drivers work for this). You are completely removing drivers before doing this? Although it should still be recognized. Maybe try reinstalling chipset drivers? Pauldo |

Re: Vista not detecting Auzentech soundcard.
Hi, thanks for replying.
I tested the card in my sisters very old PC last night (XP Professional) - XP did detect the card. However, after installing the drivers from the CD that came with the card, the XP machine would just hang on booting. My sister wasnt amused. I had to boot the XP machine into safemode & remove the drivers & card to get the machine to boot properly. I still havent managed to get a beep out of the soundcard yet. Because of the STOP 0x124 errors I was getting I have recently purchased Drivercure & have updated drivers for everything - so much so that Vista started telling me to reactivate "because of new hardware" (this was before I put the new soundcard in!) I have an old PC handy which I was going to test W7 on, I will first try a test install of XP on that with the Auzentech to see if I can get any sound at all. Even if I do the original problem still remains - my Vista PC/MSI K7N motherboard will not detect the presence of the Auzentech X-Fi soundcard but will happily detect the Creative X-Fi. I must admit I didnt remove the original X-Fi drivers (been building/upgrading PC's for many years & thats never caused me a problem before). Guess thats worth trying next. |
