For the record i have read through the other posts regarding this issue. Ok, so i've format re-installed my PC (im not new at this) I loaded the drivers from the mobo CD including audio as its integrated and surprise surpirse NO SOUND PC specs at bottom*** Checked device manager - no yellow exclamation marks All multimedia codecs are listed Show hidden devices revealed an unknown PCI device under network client with an exclamation mark Checked add/remove: Realtek HD audio driver is listed Checked sound properties in control panel: it also claims no audio devices are present Visited Gibayte.com.au and went through download center It confirmed i had the driver installed, so i removed the file and installed it from the website The website advised i needed MS UAA driver So i found a copy and installed it Device manager shows no UAA driver Add/remove and regedit has KB88811 listed tried installing audio driver from site anyway - same message (need UAA) Then downloaded 'motherboard_driver_audio_realtek_azalia' from Gigabyte which has recent copy of both files So i unistalled driver and removed first copy of KB888111 through regedit Installed the new azalia copy and guess what - NO CHANGE So now im asking you guys for the next step Other info: -Checked sys info and DXDIAG both say no sound device is present -when removing HD driver from add/remove it claims it cannot be removed yet it does anyway -Windows update is... up to date Computer: Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition OS Service Pack Service Pack 2 DirectX 4.09.00.0904 (DirectX 9.0c) Motherboard: CPU Type AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz Motherboard Name Gigabyte GA-M52S-S3P rev 2.0 Motherboard Chipset Unknown System Memory 2048 MB BIOS Type Award Modular v6.00PG (03/04/08) Communication Port Communications Port (COM1) Communication Port Communications Port (COM2) Communication Port ECP Printer Port (LPT1) Display: Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS (256 MB) Monitor Plug and Play Monitor [NoDB] (17299091) Storage: IDE Controller Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller IDE Controller Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller Disk Drive Generic USB MS Reader USB Device Disk Drive Generic USB SM Reader USB Device Disk Drive Generic USB CF Reader USB Device Disk Drive WD 10EAVS External USB Device (931 GB, USB) Disk Drive WDC WD3200AAKS-00YGA0 (298 GB, IDE) Disk Drive Generic USB SD Reader USB Device Optical Drive HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H62N SMART Hard Disks Status OK Partitions: C: (NTFS) 305234 MB (278817 MB free) I: (FAT32) 953634 MB (603202 MB free) Total Size 1229.4 GB (861.3 GB free) Input: Keyboard Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard Mouse PS/2 Compatible Mouse Network: Network Adapter D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G510 Wireless PCI Adapter(rev.C) (10.1.1.3) Network Adapter Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family Gigabit Ethernet NIC Peripherals: USB1 Controller Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller [NoDB] USB2 Controller Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller [NoDB] USB Device USB Mass Storage Device USB Device USB Mass Storage Device Last edited by R33C3; 06-11-2009 at 09:34 PM. |
