Re: No sound after Re-install!!
When you reinstalled windows you lost your drivers. You should install
motherboard drivers, you should have a disk that came with the mother board, or pc. The audio drivers should have also came with the system. If not, do a google for eversest home edition, its free run it. This will give you the specs of your board. Once that is know you can go to maker of the boards website, find your model and download and install mother board drivers, and if its onboard audio those drivers will be available also..Install mobo drivers first.....

Re: No sound after Re-install!!
I have downloaded everest home edition and ran it and got all the specs of my board, unfortunately im not the most clued up person in the world and im unsure of what im looking for! If i posted my results would anyone please point me in the right direction?
From everest i was taken to BiosAgenPlus.com which also ran a free scan and game me 4 bad results sayin 1 bios and 3 driver updates available. Which were BIOS Phoenix Award, Audio device on high definition audio bus, Processors AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+ and USB Mass storage device. Not sure what to do now? |

Re: No sound after Re-install!!
yes it will give those everytime, I have used it a long time ago
inaccurate I found it to be. To post a everest report here: Copy and paste the report to Notepad or MS Word. Save the report so you know where it is. You then can attach the report.

Re: No sound after Re-install!!
I doubt that codecs are responsible, but one way or the other you're going to need them, so please download and install this:
http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail...l/1094057842/3 Codecs are sort of like "drivers" for video and audio files. In other words, they're necessary.

Re: No sound after Re-install!!
Hello,
Go here for the audio driver: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false Go here for video driver: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_185.85_whql.html 1. uninstall the sound driver from add/remove in control panel 2. go into program files, and delete the audio folder here too. 3. reboot pc, if a new found hardware box comes up, cancel it out. 4. install the audio driver that you downloaded 5. after installation is complete, reboot pc 6. install video driver 7. reboot pc

Re: No sound after Re-install!!
Go to realtek, click on downloads tab, choose high definition Audio
put a check in the box and accept agreement. Did you give it a min or so, sometimes slow opening up.

Re: No sound after Re-install!!
Morning!
Back to subject, i followed your last instructions by uninstalling my sound driver through add/remove programs and then re-installed the stuff i downloaded. When i used the video driver download to update though i had a problem, which was all my screen went really funny coloured and to the smallest resolution possible, and wouldnt allow me to change it! so i rolled back my video driver and its fine again. |
