Static/muffled sound

So, I'll get right into it. It's a rather interesting story :-]

I woke up this morning and put my headphones on to listen to some music. When I attempted to play the music while sound would come out, It was very muffled and very low.

It almost sounds like everything is under water. I tried using my speakers thinking it was the headset i use but it was the same with the speakers.

It's not my media player or anything like that because everything from ventrilo to youtube to video game sounds is all muffled and hard to hear.

Now, last night before i went to sleep i was opening a cup of fruit (ya know the little cups with a lot of juice in them, random i know lol) and as i was opening it i lost control of it and the juice inside of it splattered everywhere.

Now my computer sits right beside me and there is no protective side on it. Right when the juice splattered my computer turned off suddenly. Now i had to wait like 5 minutes and then my computer started right back up and everything was working perfectly fine (including sound)

But the next morning(this morning) I wake up and the sound is all muffled/low ect. Everything else is working perfectly fine though. After the juice spalttered everywhere i checked my computer and coudl not find any wet spots. but im guessing that mabye a drop hti my sound card?

Now i got this computer about 2 years ago and the only things i've added/replaced in it is ram and video card. im pretty sure the sound card is integrated, hell, i dont even know if this problem is the sound card.

If you need anymore information let me know, feedback is very much appreciated!!!

thanks!

ALSO wanted to add that im running windows vista

Re: Static/muffled sound

If you have no add-in sound card than it is integrated. It certainly sounds like you got some juice in there BUT one thing to try first is to re-install the audio drivers for the motherboard.

You can find the drivers either at the motherboard manufacturer's website or on the computer manufacturer's website.

Did you clean at all inside the case when it spilled, or did you just let it sit?

Re: Static/muffled sound

i briefly looked over it all and didnt see any sort of moist spot at all so i just let it sit.

Could I just resort to buying a new *sound* card than if juice did happen to get in there?

Re: Static/muffled sound

A new video card won't fix the sound, but a new sound card would, yes. A good cheap sound card is the Sound Blaster Audigy SE
