Sound Card isn't being detected
I recently installed a new motherboard (Asus P5QL PRO) because my old one broke and I can't get my sound card (Sound Blaster X-Fi) to work. When I turn my PC on the sound cards light turns on but it isn't being detected. I have tried plugging it into different slots but still nothing. Any suggestions?

Re: Sound Card isn't being detected
Since I can't edit my post for some reason.
EDIT: I think it has something to do with the old onboard sound card drivers, I did uninstall them but I think the onboard sound card may be blocking the Creative one. I managed to install the drivers that came with the disk and new ones downloaded off the net for the Sound Blaster X-Fi card but every time I restart after installing them it prompts me with the new hardware found install drivers... Also in Dxdiag It is showing no device and giving me this message "No sound card was found. If one is expected, you should install a sound driver provided by the hardware manufacturer." But I already tried installing the driver provided by HM so yea.... any help? |
