Outputting 5.1 Surround sound from my nForce 750i SLI Motherboard
I am trying to connect my computer (nForce 750i SLI Motherboard) through my new amplifier (Panasonic AV Control Reciever SA-HT65) for 5.1 surround sound, via the onboard sound card.
Each of these both support digital (optical) input/output, and i have them connected this way. My Problem is i am only getting sound from my FrontLeft and FrontRight speakers. Even when using "Realtek HD Audio Manager" > "Audio I/O", under 2CH/4CH/6CH/8CH speaker, sound will only come from the Front Left/Right speakers. The problem is not the amplifier speaker setup, as running the auto setup from the amplifier produces sound from each speakers and bass, thus leading me to believe it is a computer issue. however even using the amplifier by itself and its inbuilt radio capabilities produces sound from only the front left/right speakers >.< Any ideas or solutions would be great. Even directions to somewhere that could help (if I'm in the wrong place. i don't post on forums much) |

Re: Outputting 5.1 Surround sound from my nForce 750i SLI Motherboard
So have you played a DVD with surround sound on it?
You shouldn't have to fiddle with anything in Realteks Audio manager. You do that on your receiver. Realistically, music should be listened too through only 2 speakers. That said you should have an option to expand audio to all of your speakers, I think on your Panasonic it is called Super Surround. I don't think that you will have this option when you listen to the radio. For movies that have surround sound encoding, it should just detect that you have a digital source and play it. Your receiver has decoders for Dolby Digital and Dolby Surround and you have a little light that indicates that it is receiving a digital stream. You might have to press the Dolby Pro Logic button on your remote if what you are listening to was encoded in that. Let us know how it goes. Pauldo |

Re: Outputting 5.1 Surround sound from my nForce 750i SLI Motherboard
Ah right. so not all sources come in 5.1 automatically? that makes me feel a 'little' better about my dilemma.
The receiver does come with 2 options called "Dolby Pro Logic II" and "Sound Field Control" which i have played around with, and give you options to essentially duplicate and slit the sound so it comes out of all the speakers + bass. I will try a DVD with surround sound and play that when i get back from work. Should i play the dvd through my computer or borrow a dvd player from someone? I am still a bit worried about sound not coming though the speakers while checking Realtek Audio manager, but after i play the dvd, we will soon find out if it is worth worrying about. Will be back to you. |

Yes, play the DVD thru your computer. To some extent, it does matter what player you use (more importantly what codecs are used for playback). Not sure about Windows Media Player. I do know that Media Player Classic does the job well.
http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/ Plus it will tell you if the stream coming from the DVD has Dolby or not before it is being sent out to your receiver. Let us know how it goes. Pauldo |
