I was in the library a few days ago, listening to music on my earphones while surfing the web. After I was done, I paused the music unplugged my earphones, closed the laptop and went home. When I got home, I wanted to listen to watch a DVD on my laptop, only to be disappointed because there was no sound playback. I also realized that I had accidentally left my earphones at the library, so there's no way for me to test if the sound works with earphones.
I've already tried a system restore, and it didn't solve my problem. When I check my Volume Control settings, the PC Speaker column is gray and I'm unable to adjust its settings. I've owned this computer for about three years, and haven't had any sound issues until now. I've looked through the 'Sound Problems' sticky, and still can't find a solution. What could be the problem? ![]()

Re: My Compaq Presario R4000 recently lost its sound...
Oh, and my sound device is called "Conexant AC-link Audio". I've tried everything in the 'Sound Problems' sticky, and my sound still isn't working...

Re: My Compaq Presario R4000 recently lost its sound...
UPDATE:
Since I don't have my earphones anymore, I stuck a piece of tin foil in the earphones jack, took it out, and now my sound works! Yay!
